Summary.

Scores of recent stories have exposed the pervasiveness of sexual harassment in industries such as Hollywood, tech, politics, and academia. Less attention has been given to lower-paying jobs, such as those in the service and hospitality industry, where the problem runs rampant.

Stefanie K. Johnson is an associate professor of management and entrepreneurship at University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business and author of Inclusify. Dr. Johnson studies the intersection of leadership and diversity, focusing on how unconscious bias affects the evaluation of leaders, and strategies that leaders can use to mitigate bias. She is a member of the MG 100 Coaches and the 2020 Thinkers50 Radar List.

Juan M. Madera is an associate professor at the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College. Dr. Madera’s research examines employee perceptions of workplace diversity and discrimination and strategies organizations can use to increase positive perceptions of diversity management programs. He has published over 50 journal articles and book chapters in outlets such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business and Psychology, and Cornell Hospitality Quarterly.
